Making Sense of the Sensory World

February 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Virtual Event

We are constantly processing sensory information. People who effectively process sensory stimuli can block out irrelevant information and attend to relevant information. When people are able to effectively process the sensory world, they are able to attend, focus and learn.

Problems with sensory processing may result in learning problems, hyperactivity, distractibility, poor coordination, poor balance, behaviour problems, and may contribute to difficulties at school, at home, at work and in play. The inability to effectively deal with sensory stimuli affects all aspects of life!

Making Sense of the Sensory World: Supporting Autistic Children will teach the distinct ways in which Autistic children may experience sensory stimuli. Early learning and childcare professionals will review the senses and sensory systems that impact everyone in different ways and learn strategies that may assist Autistic children in coping with sensory stimuli.
