In this workshop, Educators will learn about “Child Development Programs” (CDP) and learn about the “York Region Speech and Language Program” (YRPSLP):
- What is YRPSLP and what areas do Speech Language Pathologists assess and treat at YRPSLP
- Who can be referred to YRPSLP and how to make a referral
- Speech and language norms for preschool children
- How to access free tips, resources and e-learning seminars from the CDP website
- Learn some basic strategies to enhance speech and language skills in the classroom
About the Presenters:
Osy Mendelson and Tami Cogan-Weintraub are Speech Language Pathologists working at the York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program. They have been with the program for over 20 years and have extensive experience assessing and treating children with various communication concerns. In addition, they both have taught courses to Early Learning Staff as well as coached staff on various strategies in their childcare centers. Their passion is to help strengthen children’s communication skills at home and in the classroom.
