The mission of Rose of Sharon is to provide support and educational services to prenatal and parenting young women under the age of 25 across York Region.

Since 1985, we have given young mothers the opportunity to work towards their goals in a supportive, learning-centered environment while parenting their young children. With the generous support of our community, we have been able to enhance the lives of young women and their families. We are the only agency providing these services in the region and the need for our services continues to grow each year.
Opportunity

Rose of Sharon is currently seeking a part-time ABC Program Supervisor (contract, 22.5 hours per week) to oversee the ABC All Babies Count prenatal nutrition program for pregnant women in York Region. Reporting to the Program Manager, the ABC Program Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordinating and implementation of four Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) programs in York Region, which includes managing the partnership/Service Agreement with Social Enterprise Canada who oversee services within southern York Region, and directly supervising the ABC Program Coordinator for central and northern York Region. As a member and chair of the ABC Management Committee, the ABC Program Supervisor also apprises other committee members of Public Health Agency of Canada initiatives and liaises with the Program Consultant at Public Health Agency of Canada about program reporting and evaluation.

The primary duties required for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with Management Committee to develop program policies and make program decisions.
• Responsible for program-related supervision for all four ABC programs.
• Meet with all Site Coordinators on a regular basis to monitor program progress
• Liaise between PHAC, Management Committee, Staff team and with counselling team
• Maintain ABC program guidelines and ensure ABC programs meet the requirements of prenatal women.
• Oversee program evaluation and develop tools in collaboration with management team.
• Promote ABC All Babies Count programs within York Region and generate community awareness and support as well as participate in relevant community committees.
• Manage program budget
• Oversee stats collection, data management and report writing to funders
• Organize and facilitate Management Meetings, Staff Meetings and other meetings as required.

Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma or equivalent in a health/community development or related field
• Minimum of 3 years related experience working with diverse communities
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) at all levels applying facilitation and negotiation skills.
• Successful candidate should have an understanding of the determinants of health, and be able to apply them to the CPNP programs
• Working knowledge of trauma-informed care, anti-oppressive practice and feminism is an asset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Strong leadership skills with experience in project management and report writing.
• Ability to develop and implement outreach campaigns by applying strong interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage data using case management systems or databases.
• Excellent, oral, listening and presentation skills, strong writing skills.
• Assertive, self-motivated, enthusiastic and creative.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Proven ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• A valid driver’s license and car to travel throughout York Region is essential
• Vulnerable sector screening, current CPR and first aid training and recent TB test.
