We are excited to announce the upcoming launch (October 23, 2014) of the AECEO York Branch Professional Book Club. This initiative offers AECEO members yet another accessible option for ongoing professional learning.

A Professional Book Club is not only an excellent opportunity for members to read and discuss quality books that will enhance their professional knowledge and practice, it is also a means of taking part in “planned professional discussions with colleagues” consistent with the Learning Opportunities outlined in the College of Early Childhood Educator’s Continuous Professional Learning program.

Participants will register to attend monthly two-hour sessions hosted and facilitated by York Branch member, Monica Bissett, AECEO.C, to discuss the designated book, consider strategies they can try in their classroom, and share and reflect on their experiences within a community of learners. Monica will guide the discussions and provide group activities to reflect on the core principles of the designated book. We hope to provide an atmosphere where ideas are encouraged that can be applied to our professional lives.

Books will be chosen by the AECEO Professional Learning Advisory Committee based on recommendations from book club members.  After each session, discussion notes will be posted to an online forum for participants who are not able to attend in-person.
